Step back in time to the land of palm-treed oases, sand-dune horizons and air perfumed with spices. Opium brings the spirit of 1,001 Arabian Nights indoors through a sensory experience heavy with Persian accents. Upon entering the Opium suite, guests pass by an old-fashioned bellows, once used for keeping fires alive during cool desert evenings. Neutral-toned walls offset dark crown molding, tall, gold-and-black embroidered curtains and modern replicas of brass-and-bejeweled Marrakesh lanterns. The patchwork of Persian rugs covering the suite’s floor lends an added texture, buttressed by the wooden and tapestry-tufted furniture. The suite’s king-sized bed, set in a wood frame, is finished with an ornate, hand-carved wooden headboard, inset with a sculpted mirror. A large, carved wooden trunk at the foot of the bed gives the Opium suite a sense of wanderlust, as if the next adventure is just a dream away.
An arched, velvet and black leather banquette sits invitingly across from the bed, while a wooden desk, a dark wood vanity, oversized velvet pillows and a decorative, tasseled ottoman appear lush and warm under the room’s soft lighting. The bathroom continues Opium’s theme, with the room covered in mirrors and paisley wallpaper, and a large Buddha’s head residing directly below the sink. Step into Opium and inhale the beauty of the past while experiencing the present.
